thank you weekend

It’s weekends like this past one that leave me an with overwhelming feeling of appreciation for the wonderful people and experiences I am able to have in my life. I admit I sometimes throw myself a pity party when life gets stressful and tend to be a recluse. I am so lucky to have the company of good friends to cook, play, eat desserts, and most importantly, laugh with when the last thing I need to do is throw myself a pity party.

A fresh and colorful Friday night dinner with Kombucha instead of cocktails, dressing up and going out for drinks and desserts with my lady friends, long car rides with fun people, good music bringing us to a sunny mountain with lots of new snow! Can’t beat that. Did I mention I’m a lucky girl. I am so lucky.

This week has been a little intense, to say the least. Big changes took place that left me feeling anxious and scared at one moment, then excited and hopeful at others. This morning I had to get up really early for an appointment before work and it was really cold and really dark out. I didn’t want to get out of bed, but then I looked at the blank spot on the wall where I plan to put these two new prints I just ordered from theloveshop on Etsy. I haven’t been buying anything, except for the necessities for the last several months and although I generally experience buyer’s remorse with any purchase, I felt really good about this one.

new year, new playlist.

2011 was not a very good year for me when it comes to expanding my itunes library. I’m grateful for having Spotify on my computer at work so I listen to music when I am working on projects, but it’s defnitely stopped me from downloading new music that I can listen to anywhere.

Here’s to 2012! And to using the rest of the $43.17 on my mp3 fiesta account!

christmas gift idea: rebecca minkoff bff phone case

A couple of nights ago I talked to one of my best buds on the phone for over an hour. She lives in New York now and we had a lot of catching up to to from the last couple of months. Every time we talk it’s like no time has passed. I kind of wish we had these Rebecca Minkoff phone cases I saw on shopbop. If we don’t have time to chat on the phone we still text each other. Or, she always finds the best cat videos to send me. She knows me so well.

J Brand for City Year

I was so excited when I learned about J Brand teaming up with City Year in support of Los Angeles Public Schools. It’s not that often that worlds of fashion and education collide and I have spent many hours picking my brand on how to incorporate these two passions of mine.

Right now you can buy the J Brand 811 Mid-Rise Skinny Leg and 100% of the proceeds will go to City Year. How cool is that? I have been on a shopping diet for the last couple of months, trying to save the little money I make, but I think this would be a pretty good excuse for some retail therapy.

Watch this video to learn a little more about City Year and their partnership with J Brand. Did I mention my favorite (and most flattering) pair of jeans are from J Brand? Well, they are!
